Zelensky, Duda and Nauseda meet in New York to talk about grain
The Lithuanian leader said that the differences between Ukraine and Poland should be resolved “as soon as possible.” According to him, further deepening of the conflict would be “irresponsible.”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with leaders of Poland and Lithuania Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nausėda in New York. This was reported by the Lithuanian portal LRT on September 21.
Gitanas Nausėda stated the need to resolve the disagreements between Warsaw and Kyiv “as soon as possible” in order to protect Europe from Russian aggression. He emphasized that Poland’s position in assisting Ukraine is “exceptional” and further deepening of the conflict would be “irresponsible.”
“As history shows, only through joint efforts, supporting and helping each other, can we resist the danger of external threats. Meanwhile, social disagreements, regardless of the reasons, not only undermine unity, but also help the enemy’s propaganda,” Nausėda said.
The Lithuanian leader discussed with Zelenskyy and Duda the simplification of grain transportation procedures through Poland, as well as increasing transit through Lithuania. It is reported that the talks will continue in the near future.
As a reminder, on September 21, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky spoke by phone with Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus. The ministers agreed to resolve the issue of grain exports.
Earlier, on September 20, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that Warsaw would continue to support Ukraine in its opposition to the military aggression of the Russian Federation, despite the disagreement over Ukrainian grain.
