World trade in soybean meal increased by almost 2 million tons over the year

Global exports of soybean meal in the period from October 2021 to September 2022 increased to 61.07 million tons compared to 59.3 million tons in the same months of the 2020/21 season. Such data were published by specialists of the Hamburg analytical agency OilWorld (Germany) in their report.

As follows from the materials of German experts, the lion’s share in the world supply of the product in the period under review belongs to Argentina – 26.7 million tons against 28.4 million tons in October-September 2020/21 MY. Brazil is next with 20.3 million tons (16.6 million tons), and the United States closes the top three with 12.33 million tons (12.41 million tons).

Paraguay, which lost about 70% of its soybean crop last season due to drought, is in fourth position and has exported 1.74 million tons of soybean meal (1.89 million tons) since October last year.

It is noteworthy that in September Brazil took the lead in terms of the number of meal shipments from Argentina, sending 1.92 million tons of the product to foreign markets against only 1.75 million tons from the closest competitor.

In general, according to OilWorld (Germany), world exports of soybean meal did not meet the expectations of market operators and decreased to 4.57 million tons in August and 4.62 million tons in September of this year, which is a total of 0.9 million tons , or 9% less than in the same period last year.
