Winter wheat crop conditions have deteriorated sharply in the US
The condition of winter wheat crops in the USA continues to deteriorate due to moisture deficit.
According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS USDA) on April 21, the share of winter wheat crops in excellent and good condition fell to 50% (55% a week earlier and 26% a year ago). The share of crops in poor and very poor condition rose to 16% (13% and 41%). 34% (32% and 33%) of crops are in satisfactory condition.
Sowing rates of spring crops are ahead of expectations. By April 21, corn sowing was carried out on 12% of the planned area (10% on the same date on average for the last five years). Spring wheat was sown 15% (10%) of the plan, soybean – 8% (4%).
