Wheat exports from the EU fell by 26%

From the beginning of the current season to November 7, the EU countries exported 10.2 million tons of wheat, which is 26% less compared to the same period last season. Exports of durum wheat fell by 83% to 43.7 thsd tonnes. This was reported by the European Commission.

The main exporters of soft wheat among the EU countries this season were: Romania (2.8 mln tonnes), France (1.9 mln tonnes), Poland (1.8 mln tonnes), Bulgaria and Lithuania (0.9 mln tonnes each). Durum is exported mainly from France (34.1 thousand tons).

The main importers of European durum wheat in the current season are Morocco (1.6 mln tonnes), Nigeria (1.1 mln tonnes), Algeria (0.8 mln tonnes), South Africa (0.6 mln tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (0.5 mln tonnes).

The volume of imports of soft wheat to the EU countries increased by 23% to 3.1 mln tonnes in the reporting period. Imports of durum wheat grew even more significantly – by 334% to 1.2 mln tons.

The EU imports soft wheat from Ukraine (2.0 million tons), Canada (0.3 million tons), the Republic of Moldova (0.2 million tons), Russia (0.2 million tons) and other countries. The main suppliers of durum wheat were: Turkey (0.5 mln tonnes), Russia (0.3 mln tonnes), Kazakhstan (0.2 mln tonnes) and Canada (0.1 mln tonnes).
