Wheat crop conditions have improved in the US
Last week, the condition of winter and spring wheat crops improved in the US.
According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the USDA (NASS), the share of winter wheat crops in excellent and good condition increased to 49% (47% a week earlier and 38% a year ago), and spring wheat – to 76% (72% and 51%).
By June 16, winter wheat was harvested from 27% of the planted areas. As of the same date last year, 13% of winter wheat areas were threshed, compared to 14% on average over the last five years.
According to the forecasts of the USDA, the next season’s harvest of U.S. wheat will increase to 51.0 mln tonnes, which is 3% more than in the current season and 6% more than the five-year average.
