The temporary corridor in the Black Sea is working: the number of ships is already in the dozens and will only grow. This was stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, on the air of the FREEДОМ TV channel today.

“The key word is ‘working’. In the same way, we believe that the number of ships will increase. This is a matter of the first trial balloon. That is, the bravest ones went ahead, regardless of the fact that the insurance rates were quite high – about 5% of the value of the cargo, as far as I know. There were brave souls who went first. And now it’s more than 70 ships to the west, I think it’s closer to 80, and about 60 are on their way out. Accordingly, people believed, and insurance rates began to fall significantly,” Pletenchuk said.

According to him, this channel is no longer only for exports, but also for export-import.

Pletenchuk emphasized that the Ukrainian Navy is making every effort to ensure the security of this corridor.

“Of course, the Russians do not like it very much. Of course, they are very angry about it, about the fact that it was done without them, about the fact that they cannot ‘hand over the tickets’ – that’s the expression they use. And this is exactly what they are used to playing on, the geopolitical tool that was very convenient for them at sea. That is why we will continue to do everything possible to expand it. And we are slowly approaching the 1.5 million tons mark. This is already quite a lot,” Pletenchuk added.
