USDA released an optimistic forecast for next season’s grains in Ukraine
Ukraine. The 2020/21 estimates were brought into compliance with the official grain harvest results published by to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. The figure for 2020/21 wheat exports was reduced by 0.5 MMT, to 17 MMT, because of slow shipments.
According to the forecast, the 2021/22 grain crop in Ukraine may hit a record high of 77 MMT, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Russia and Kazakhstan. The estimates of next season’s grain production in Russia and Kazakhstan are roughly at the 2020/21 level, while export potential may increase because of high carryovers.
Thus, the 2021/22 grain crop in the Black Sea region will rise by 5.8%, to 214.2 MMT (mostly due to a production gain in Ukraine), while its export potential will increase by 13.2%, to 114.2 MMT.
