Ukrainian wheat exports slightly recovered in January
January exports totaled 508 KMT (+3% from December and -45% from January 2019/20) – last time they were that low five years ago. Over 13 MMT had been exported since the beginning of the season (-18% y-o-y).
Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Thailand have not been buying Ukrainian wheat for two straight months now. Consequently, the y-o-y decrease in their imports grew by 13%, 48% and 9%, respectively, UkrAgroConsult reports.
In addition, a drop happened in demand from Egypt, Turkey, the Philippines and Tunisia.
The following buyers boosted purchases – Morocco (+82%) and the EU (+43%).
– Pakistan imported no wheat from Ukraine last year, but this season it is the third biggest buyer of the Ukrainian product with a 10% export share.
