From November, accredited Ukrainian enterprises can use the agreed Official Meat Inspection Certificate for the export of poultry meat from Ukraine to Canada.

This is reported by the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine.

As noted, the export of poultry meat from Ukraine to Canada will take place within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada (CUFTA), which was signed on July 11, 2016, and entered into force on August 1, 2017. Negotiations on the approval of the poultry meat inspection certificate lasted for more than 6 years, since 2016.

Poultry exports will be free of customs duties and tariff quotas until June 2023, as Canada has canceled all tariffs and quotas on Ukrainian products for 12 months.

The parties agreed that the first ten commercial batches of meat products from Ukraine will be subject to full organoleptic inspection.

Accreditation of new establishments will be carried out by the Canadian Food Safety Inspection Agency remotely or during a “physical” on-site inspection. The list of accredited Ukrainian enterprises, which have the right to import meat products to Canada, can be found at the link.
