Ukrainian grain crisis in the EU: France and Spain take Ukraine’s side
Spain believes that a unilateral ban on Ukrainian grain by any EU member state looks illegal, while France said that European solidarity is at stake.
This opinion was expressed by the ministers of agriculture of these countries before the planned meeting in Brussels, Reuters reports.
Thus, Spanish Minister Luis Planas Pujades said that only “the European Commission should determine” whether any EU country has violated any laws.
At the same time, French Agriculture Minister Marc Feno criticized these steps, saying they call into question European solidarity.
“Solidarity requires unity… We have to keep the two elements together, otherwise the European project is at risk. The single market is a fundamental element,” he explained.
