Ukrainian farmers began to send grain for export by rail
Farmers began sending the first wagons of grain through border crossings. This was announced by Maxigrain Business Development Manager Olena Neroba.
It is noted that the main route for exports now is 11 railway border crossings on the borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. Before the war, only one of them, in Izov, worked 100%, the rest – 50-80%.
According to Оlena Neroba, Maxigrain signed an export contract for the first time during the war.
“Finally, we signed the first export contracts after the war. The first consignments of grain have already arrived in Poland, ”Olena Neroba shares her impressions.
However, despite optimism about the conclusion of the first contracts, Olena Neroba fears that with such a rate of exports via rail, the export of products to warehouses is in question.
“Currently, 6.5 million tons of wheat and about 15 million tons of corn are available for export in Ukraine, and it is unknown where to sell the future harvest. In autumn, farmers sowed 6.5 million hectares of winter wheat, which will grow about 14 million tons of grain, “said the expert.
