Corn starch exports in September-June totaled 67.9 KMT. This is down 15% y-o-y, UkrAgroConsult reports.

The main reason for the export decline was a production decrease to 111.5 KMT in September-June (down 6% y-o-y).

Indonesia and the UAE ceased buying Ukrainian starch from April 2021, while the EU shows steady demand from month to month, with its share in Ukrainian exports having increased to 16% from 11%.

In MY 2020/21, China’s share in Ukrainian corn starch exports grew to 13% (6% in MY 2019/20), making the country one of the top 3 importers.

Traditional buyers reduced purchases compared to the same period last season: Indonesia (-26%), the UAE (-6%), Taiwan (-55%), Belarus (-18%).

A y-o-y rise is seen in shipments to the following markets: China (up almost two times), the EU (+19%), Thailand (+15%).
