Ukrainian corn can be exported to EU countries by rail
During the war, logistical problems can only be solved by expanding capacity across the western borders.
Nikolay Gorbachev, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), spoke about this in his column for AgroTimes.
According to him, after grain reaches the borders by rail, it can be transshipped through the ports of Constanta (Romania) and Gdansk (Poland).
“We will be able to send corn directly to Italy and Spain by rail. By the way, Europe buys about 30% of corn exports from Ukraine. That is, in fact, we can send corn to the EU by rail, if there are technical possibilities“, Nikolay Gorbachev said.
He is convinced that it is extremely important to create alternative ways to export grain, communicate with all our neighbors and create favorable conditions for businesses that will be interested in building terminals.
“In this case, we will have a chance to sow and preserve the country’s food security,” said Nikolay Gorbachev.
