Ukraine’s grain production and exports to hit new highs in 2019/20 season

The harvest of early spring grains in Ukraine is drawing to an end. In view of reported yield values while harvesting along with the Ag Ministry’s updates on planted area for this year, UkrAgroConsult has revised Ukraine’s grain balance.

UkrAgroConsult raised its forecast for Ukraine’s 2019 wheat crop to an all-time high, mostly at the expense of larger-than-expected plantings of winter wheat (6.64 Ml ha, up 3.5% from 2018).

The forecast for wheat exports from Ukraine was raised.

According to the Ag Ministry, the corn area in 2019 reached an all-time high of 4.97 Ml ha (up 8% from 2018).

This year’s grain production in Ukraine may reach a new record. We estimate the country’s export potential at a record high level as well.
