Ukraine’s agricultural exports decreased by $1.5 billion in 2023

Agricultural exports brought Ukraine $21.9 billion in 2023, compared to $23.4 billion last season, which indicates a decrease in revenues by $1.5 billion. This is reported by AgroPolit.com, citing data provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

In 2023, Ukraine exported more agricultural products – 9.5 million tons, but received less money due to a full-scale war and falling export prices.

The following countries became the largest buyers of Ukrainian agricultural products:

• Romania – $2.9 billion (+12% over the year);
• China – $2.2 billion (+17% over the year);
• Turkey – $2 billion (-10% year-on-year);
• Spain – $1.8 billion (+34% per year);
• Poland – $1.7 billion (-35% over the year);
• The Netherlands – $1.3 billion (+6% per year);
• Egypt – $1.1 billion (+63%);
• Italy – $1 billion (+13%);
• Germany – $0.8 billion (+26%);
• Hungary – $0.5 billion (-47%).

Top 10 products in Ukraine’s agricultural exports in 2023:

• Sunflower, safflower, and cottonseed oils – 23% ($5 billion, -16% yoy).
• Corn – 23% ($4 billion, -9% for the year).
• Wheat – 13% ($2.9 billion, +10% for the year).
• Soybeans – 6% ($1.3 billion, -17% for the year).
• Rapeseed – 5% ($1.2 billion, -7% yoy).
• Oilcake – 4% ($1 billion, +12% yoy).
• Meat and edible offal of poultry – 4% ($0.8 billion, -7% yoy).
• Sugar – 2% ($0.4 billion, -50% yoy).
• Barley – 2% ($0.4 billion, -19% yoy).
