Ukraine. Winter and spring grains are in fair condition

Weather conditions. On April 11-23, the entire country was dominated by cool weather with frost events and very low relative air humidity for this month. Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions witnessed dust storms during 1-2 days.

Moisture supply. Precipitation occurred almost all over the country during 1-3 days on April 11-20, but its rates were insignificant. Odesa, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Rivne and Volyn regions received on average just 1-4 mm. The rest of the country got 6 до 11 mm. No precipitation occurred over the last week. Winter crops in most areas had insufficient amounts of effective moisture in the 0-20 cm soil layer.

Crop condition. The weather on April 11-23 was unfavorable for normal development of winter and spring grain crops, as it featured significant precipitation deficits, low relative air humidity, insufficient soil moisture and frost of various intensities. Frost events and dry hot winds adversely affect the pace of development of winter and early spring grains. Winter and spring grains are in fair condition, UkrAgroConsult reports.
