Since the beginning of December, the ports of Greater Odesa have been unloading an average of 901 grain cars per day. This is 42 units more than a week ago. This data was made public during an online meeting between representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia and agricultural market participants on December 14.

Currently, 6712 railcars with grain are moving toward seaports. The figure increased by 1093 units during the week.

However, the number of railcars with grain heading to Izmail is decreasing – 231 units. This is 164 railcars less than a week ago. The daily unloading rate decreased by 13 railcars to 49 units.

The increase in unloading at ports is primarily hampered by constant air raids (port operators’ staff are forced to stay in bomb shelters). The last one lasted almost 7 hours.

The meeting also raised the issue of removing empty rolling stock from ports. In particular, the difficulties are related to the recent repair work on the Podilsk-Rozdilna-Odesa-Zastava section. However, the “window” is over and the situation is starting to improve. For example, some ports are already exporting more trains than they receive.

As previously reported, in December, the volume of grain wagons transferred through the western border crossings decreased, while the volume of grain wagons transferred to the ports of Greater Odesa increased.
