During the month of operation of the “green” grain corridor, Ukraine exported almost 1.5 million tons of agricultural products. More than 60 ships left Ukrainian ports. Thanks to the coordinated work and support of international partners, there is a prospect of increasing export volumes. Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, spoke about the prospects of export and its importance for Ukraine and the world during the “Social Resistance” broadcast.

As noted by the First Deputy Minister, the total export for August is 4 million tons. While before the war it amounted to 6 million.

“This is a positive dynamic. We are confidently moving towards restoring pre-war export figures. The ability to export is critically necessary for the Ukrainian agricultural sector. 25-30% of agricultural products are used for domestic consumption. About 70% is exported to feed hundreds of millions of people in the world,” emphasized Taras Vysotsky.

According to him, Ukraine in the conditions of war can increase the rate of export up to 1 million tons every month.

Vysotskyi added that they expect to export about 5 million tons of agricultural products in September.

“Export growth has a positive effect on the economy as a whole, ensures macroeconomic stability, and curbs inflation. Farmers can sell grain at a price higher than cost. The agricultural sector creates hundreds of thousands of jobs. And these are taxes to local budgets, to the general budget. This ensures the stability of the hryvnia. It is also important to increase the number of experts for the sake of foreign exchange earnings and a stable exchange rate,” said the First Deputy Minister.
