The Cabinet of Ministers has imposed a temporary ban on sugar exports, which will be in effect from June 5 to September 15. The government’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, announced this on Telegram.

In particular, the government has set a zero quota for sugar exports from June 5 to September 15, 2023.

The relevant changes were made to the annexes to the Resolution N1466 “On Approval of the Lists of Goods, Export and Import of which are Subject to Licensing, and Quotas for 2023” of December 27, 2022.

As reported, as of the end of March, during the first 7 months of the current marketing year (MY, September 2022 – August 2023), Ukraine exported 265 thousand tons of sugar, which is 4.8 times more than in the entire 2021-2022 marketing year.

As a reminder, as of the beginning of the full-scale war, sugar exports from Ukraine were suspended due to military operations. On June 5, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed the resumption of sugar exports under licenses issued by the Ministry of Economy.
