On May 30, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to restrict exports of sugar and poultry to the European Union. The government’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, announced this on Telegram.

According to him, in order to comply with the conditions for the export of certain goods to the customs territory of the EU member states within the framework of temporary trade liberalization measures applied to Ukrainian products in accordance with the Association Agreement, the government amended the CMU Resolution “On Approval of the Lists of Goods Subject to Licensing and Quotas for 2024” (No. 1402 of 27.12.2023).

“The resolution was supplemented with a new appendix ‘Quota volumes of goods whose export to the EU member states is subject to licensing’, which includes certain agricultural products (sugar with a quota of 0 tons, poultry meat and edible by-products, and turkey meat and edible by-products),” he said.

According to Ekonomichna Pravda, the government’s resolution sets quotas for 2024 for exports of poultry meat and offal to the EU at 132.3 thousand tons, including 3.7 thousand tons of turkey meat and offal. As of April 1, Ukraine has already exported 45 thousand tons of these products to the EU.
