Ukraine. Soil moisture remains at one of its best levels in five years

UkrAgroConsult

Variable air temperatures were observed on September 19-22. A sharp cooling occurred on September 18-20. Ground-surface frost was seen in the eastern and northern regions. The weather conditions that developed this past week are not very favorable for crop ripening – persistent light and locally heavy rains increase moisture content in grain and seeds.

Precipitation of varying intensity in the form of moderate, locally heavy downpours occurred almost all over the country. In many parts of the southern, eastern and locally central regions, which received insignificant precipitation, soil drought continues and intensifies.

Poor conditions are reported for moisture accumulation, planting and initial development of winter crops.

Overall, soil moisture remains at one of its best levels in five years, UkrAgroConsult reports.

Weather forecast for September 28-October 3:

No precipitation all over the country. Air temperatures will be +14 … +16°C in the daytime, +5 … +7°C at night in the West; +11 … +13°C in the daytime, +3… +5°C at night in the North; +11 … +13°C in the daytime, +3 … +5°C at night in the East; +12 … +14°C in the daytime, +4… +6°C at night in Central Ukraine; +13 … +15°C in the daytime, +6 … +8°C at night in the South.
