Ukraine restricts imports of poultry and eggs from the US and Sweden

Imports of livestock products to Ukraine from Sweden and the United States have been restricted due to the registration of bird flu.

This is reported by the Eastern Interregional Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection with reference to the order of the Chief State Veterinary Inspector.

Thus, starting from January 9, it is forbidden to import hatching eggs, poultry and poultry products from disadvantaged areas of Sweden to Ukraine. The exception is products that have been processed using a method that guarantees the destruction of the pathogen of the disease.

Since January 8, the same ban on the import of poultry and hatching eggs from Pennsylvania, USA, has been in effect.

The agency noted that according to the orders of the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Ukraine, it is also prohibited to import these products from such US states as Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Washington, California, Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Utah, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, New York, and Idaho.
