In January-October, 2023 grain transported by rail totalled 17.6 M mt, down 0.7% year-on-year. Grain railway deliveries in 2023 were significantly affected by the termination of the grain corridor, a ban on grain imports to some EU countries and bearish global grain prices.

In October 2023, grain exports amounted to 1.7 M mt (+655 K mt, +61% compared to September 2023). However, grain transport by rail was almost twice as low as before the war and in 2022.

In October, grain shipments to ports (both to the Big Odessa and Danube Ports) totalled 982 K mt (by railways), up 3.2 times compared to September (m/m). This growth was facilitated by the opening of a new Ukrainian grain corridor.

Grain exports through western border crossings in October decreased by 2.6% to 748 K m t compared to September.
