Ukraine presents an ambitious plan to increase grain and oilseed production to 150 million tons in 10 years
Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, presented the Strategy for the Development of the Agricultural Sector for the next ten years at the International Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery held in London.
The document envisages full vertical integration, localization and import substitution of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
“The strategy for the development of Ukraine’s agro-industrial complex envisages full vertical integration with the production of the necessary material and technical resources and means of production. It also envisages an increase in grain and oilseed production to 150 million tons in 10 years, as well as an increase in domestic processing and production of livestock and horticultural products. The total investment portfolio amounts to USD 57 billion,” said Taras Vysotskyi.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, the Strategy envisages the restoration of irrigation for agricultural land affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. It also provides for the gradual replacement of imported food products in the domestic market. In addition, the Strategy envisages the development of green energy – complete recycling of secondary waste and production of up to 10 billion m3 of biomethane.
