Ukraine plans to sow about 22 million hectares this year

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine predicts that in 2023 Ukraine will plant about 22 million hectares. This was stated by Igor Vishtak, Director of the Agrarian Development Department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
“If in 2021 our sown area was about 29 million hectares, the forecast for the current year will be about 22 million hectares,” he said.
Vishtak added that the ministry also forecasts a reduction in the gross grain harvest, particularly corn. According to him, corn is the main export crop and a reduction in its plantings will lead to a decrease in grain exports this year.
