Ukraine plans to sow 5.6 million hectares of land this year

In 2024, 5.6 million hectares of Ukrainian land are planned to be sown as part of the spring sowing campaign, 477,000 of which have already been sown. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.

“The issue of logistics is extremely important for us, as the sowing campaign is actively underway in Ukraine,” he said.

Shmyhal noted that almost 477 thousand hectares of grain and pulses have already been sown.

According to him, the leaders of the sowing campaign are Odesa, Mykolaiv, Ternopil, Poltava, Khmelnytsky, and Vinnytsia regions.

The Head of Government said that a total of 5.6 million hectares of land is planned to be sown this year.

“Ukraine will definitely retain its status as a leading food exporter and a guarantor of global food security,” the politician emphasized.

As reported earlier, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukrainian farmers have actively started sowing sunflower, soybeans and sugar beet.

In total, over the past week, Ukraine sowed grains and legumes on 262.2 thousand hectares. Poltava region is in the lead with 44.2 thou hectares planted.
