Ukraine plans to sign a memorandum on the complete suspension of Russian agricultural exports to the EU

After the European Parliament elections in July 2024, Ukraine plans to sign a memorandum on a complete ban on the export of Russian agricultural products to the EU within the framework of the Lublin Triangle. This was stated by Stepan Cherniavsky, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, in an interview with AgroPolit.com.

“After talking with our Lithuanian and Polish colleagues in Kyiv, we are ready to sign a memorandum of joint actions to stop the export and transit of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus to the EU. Our Polish colleagues propose to do this in Warsaw at the next meeting of the Lublin Triangle, which is scheduled for July 2024,” Cherniavsky said.

The ban on Russian food in the EU has become the main topic of the Lublin Triangle (Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania). Two meetings have already been held in this format, the first in Warsaw and the second in Kyiv.

Czerniavsky emphasized that Latvia and Estonia should also be invited to join the Lublin Triangle. According to him, the ban on Russian food will help to balance prices on the European market and will be able to remove the main claims to Ukraine from farmers in Lithuania and Poland.
