By the end of spring, Ukraine plans to send about 60 ships with food to countries in need as part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his video message on December 2.

“In general, by the end of spring, we will send about 60 ships with humanitarian cargo. This is literally salvation from hunger for millions of people. And I am grateful to all our partners who joined the Ukrainian initiative,” he said.

According to him, Ukraine is quite actively moving towards one of the points of the Ukrainian peace formula – food security.

“Today (December 2), the third vessel within the framework of our Grain from Ukraine initiative has arrived in the port of Odesa. 25 thousand tons of humanitarian wheat will be sent to Somalia. The second vessel, which is finishing loading in the port of Chornomorsk, will head to Ethiopia. It has 30,000 tons of wheat on board, and the first ship under this program, Grain from Ukraine, is also heading to Ethiopia, the head of state added.

Zelenskyi also reminded that another initiative of Ukraine – grain export – made it possible to put almost 13 million tons of domestic agricultural products on the food market.

As reported, Ukraine will receive more than $90 million from international partners to export grain to the poorest countries as part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative.
