Ukraine exported just 1.19 MMT of wheat in November that was below the five-year low. This season’s wheat exports totaled 12.1 MMT as of December 7, or 12% less than a year earlier, UkrAgroConsult reports.

Almost all major importers of Ukrainian wheat reduced purchases in November: Indonesia (-84%), Pakistan (-27%), the Philippines (-98%).

This decline was caused by a few reasons:

– an upward price trend in October,

– sluggish sales by farmers, who expected further price growth,

– non-competitiveness of Ukrainian wheat compared to French and Russian origins.

This season’s wheat exports from Russia are close to a record high. Moreover, news of recent days that a duty may be imposed on wheat exports from Russia gave additional support (+ USD 2/MT FOB on Friday) to Russian wheat price.
