Ukraine is negotiating with China on the possibility of exporting wheat and peas. The increase in corn production in Ukraine is also due to the possibility of exporting it to China in the future.

This was announced by Mykola Gorbachev, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), during a roundtable discussion with the State Food and Consumer Service.

Once upon a time, Ukraine grew more than 1 million tons of peas, today it is about 350-400 thousand tons. If China opens the way for us, we will be able to grow more peas. This is a very good crop for producers, it reduces the use of fertilizers as it is a good precursor for wheat and improves soil quality.

As Ukraine may enter into global competition with countries that trade with China, information may be spread that Ukrainian wheat is of poor quality, the UGA president predicts.

“We need to have good laboratories and qualified specialists, because Ukraine can increase its export potential thanks to these people,” Gorbachev said.
