Ukraine is reducing the pace of exports against the background of blocking the grain corridor and supplies to the EU
In April, grain exports from Ukraine decreased compared to March from 5.34 to 3.62 million tons, which still exceeds the 923,000 tons shipped in April 2022, when all Black Sea ports were blocked due to Russian aggression, the ministry reported yesterday of agrarian policy of Ukraine.
According to the agency, in 2022/23 MY as of May 1, Ukraine exported 41.6 million tons of grain, including 14.4 million tons of wheat, 24.4 million tons of corn, and 2.5 million tons of barley. For the same period of 2021/22 MY, grain exports amounted to 45.9 million tons.
Currently, 10 vessels are waiting to load agricultural products in the ports of Greater Odesa, which will be exported within the framework of the “grain initiative”, Serhiy Bratchuk, the head of the People’s Council under the Odesa Military Administration, said on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
“There are 10 ships loaded with agricultural products in the ports, and the psychological level of 29 million tons has already been passed, although, of course, this figure could be much higher. I hope that soon we will confirm the fact that 30 million tons of agricultural products have already been exported to various countries of the world. Despite the sabotage by the Russian Federation, we hope for the continuation of the work of the grain corridor after May 18, especially since the representatives of Turkey also believe in it,” said S. Bratchuk.
In addition, S. Bratchuk expressed hope for an increase in the number of ships and the volume of export of agricultural products from the ports of Odesa, even despite the sabotage of the grain agreement by representatives of the Russian Federation.
