Ukraine is ready to export more than 56 million tons of food this season
In the 2023/2024 season, Ukraine is ready to ship more than 56 million tons of food to global markets.
Markiyan Dmytrasevych, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, said that despite the challenges, Ukrainian farmers will have a good harvest in the 2023/2024 season thanks to the work of their farmers and favorable weather conditions.
“Russia continues to play the card of blackmailing with hunger. But the “hunger games” are no longer perceived by the world and, importantly, by African countries. During the full-scale bloody and exhausting war, Ukraine has sent more than 90 million tons of food to the markets of Africa, Asia and Europe. And this trend should continue,” said Dmytrasevych.
He emphasized that the support of the international community is important for Ukraine. In particular, additional air defense means are needed to protect the infrastructure of agricultural exports, assistance in demining agricultural land, in restoring land and the environment after the aggressor’s explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Grain Association updated its estimate of the potential harvest in 2023, raising its forecast by another 3.7 million tons to 80.5 million tons of grains and oilseeds.
