A new route for transporting Ukraine’s food may run through the waters of Bulgaria and Romania. This will help minimize the risks after Russia’s unilateral withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar said this during a telethon.

It should be noted that by withdrawing from the grain deal, Russia has withdrawn its guarantees of shipping safety.

Bodnar said that it is possible that the Russians will not follow through on all the threats they are making. However, the threat remains, and it affects shipping companies, insurance, etc.

At the same time, the ambassador said that Ukraine has created a corresponding fund to guarantee these risks, but there are certain conditions.

“We also have the ability to attract ships and companies. From our point of view, this can be realized even without using this route, which has already been agreed upon, but through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria. This is also a possible option to minimize risks,” he said.

Bodnar emphasized that there must be a responsibility of the international community. This is necessary in order to help Ukraine implement such a scenario, on the one hand, and to put pressure on Russia to prevent its possible attacks, on the other.
