Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solsky said that Ukraine has a plan B in case the grain corridor is completely shut down. He said this during a single telethon on Monday evening.

Since the end of last week, the Black Sea Grain Initiative has not been working: for two days in a row, the Russian side has been blocking any inspections of ships trying to pass through the grain corridor.

“Now it seems to be working legally, but in fact the Russian Federation is trying to block any passage of ships, the work is paralyzed by 90%,” the minister said.

Since May 18, Russia has threatened to withdraw from the agreement. Solsky said that Ukraine is ready for such a scenario, but hopes to avoid it.

“There is always a plan B. In this situation, there is also a plan B, but let’s concentrate on plan A for now. Let’s see what the results will be,” the minister said.

According to Solsky, the prospects for the grain corridor will become apparent in the next few weeks.

“In July, even under the worst-case scenario, the stocks for export from the last season will be small. A lot of work is being done in parallel, and there are several scenarios that will be used in case of the worst case scenario. The Government will not leave the situation to chance, we will respond,” the Minister said.
