At the moment, the heaviest losses due to drought have been incurred by growers in Odesa region, UkrAgroConsult reports citing golos.com.ua.
According to Ivan Petriv, Head of the Agricultural Policy Department within the Odesa State Regional Administration, the Hydrometeorological Center in 2019 registered the lowest precipitation amount in the region since 20 years ago. Petiv forecasts the following:
– almost 40% of winter wheat, 80% of winter barley, 75% of winter rape will be lost that is equivalent to 540 Th ha, or 50% of winter crops;
– the 2020 grain crop will fall to 1-1.2 MMT from 3.7 MMT in 2019.
