Ukraine. Exports of agricultural products in December reached a record since the beginning of the war

Україна

In December 2023, Ukraine exported a record 6 million tons of agricultural products since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, including 4 million tons via the new Ukrainian sea corridor.

As noted by the Center for Economic Strategies (CES), this is better than during the “grain deal” and only 9% lower than two years ago.

“The figures could have been even higher, but the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border reduced the share of agricultural exports by road to 1%. The factors that can further contribute to the growth of agricultural exports are a new mechanism for maritime transportation insurance, which can reduce the cost of insurance to 1-1.25%,” explained Volodymyr Landa, senior economist at CES.

In early January 2024, it was reported that in five months Ukraine had already exported almost 15 million tons of cargo through the new Ukrainian sea corridor.

“Last year, Ukrzaliznytsia increased grain exports by 6%.
