Ukraine in 2021 exported vegetable oils (sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, mustard, linseed), margarine and products from vegetable and animal fats and oils, as well as animal fat for $ 7.05 billion, which is 22.2% more than in 2020.
Ukraine last year exported refined and unrefined sunflower oil worth $ 6.05 billion, which is 90.8% of the total revenue in this group of goods. Soybean and rapeseed oil were also supplied to foreign markets – by $ 0.29 billion (4.1%) and $ 0.22 billion (3.2%), respectively.
In addition, in 2021, margarine and products from vegetable and animal fats and oils were exported for $ 87 million (1.2%), and pork and poultry fat for $ 14.5 million (0.2%).
Last year, the peak months for the export of goods of this group were December ($ 0.96 billion), November ($ 0.89 billion) and May ($ 0.73 billion), while the least of all they were exported from Ukraine in August (by $ 0, 34 billion), September ($ 0.46 billion) and July ($ 0.47 billion).
In 2021, Ukraine increased imports of goods from group No. 15 in foreign currency terms by 58.4% compared to 2020 – up to $ 440 million, including $ 287 million (65.2%) of which fell on imports of palm oil, margarine and products from vegetable and animal fats and oils – $ 49.7 million (11.3%), hydrogenated fats and oils – $ 34.9 million (7.9%), – $ 24.6 million (5.5%) ) and olive oil – $ 17.6 (4%).
Thus, over the past year, the positive balance of Ukraine from the trade in fats and oils of coconut oil and animal origin amounted to $ 6.6 billion, which is 20.3% more than in 2020.
Trade in these goods in 2021 became for Ukraine the fourth direction in terms of foreign exchange earnings after trading in ferrous metals (total sales of $ 13.96 billion), cereals ($ 12.35 billion) and ore ($ 7.13 billion).
