Before the restrictions were imposed, the country supplied about 10% of its total agricultural exports to Poland and transited through Poland.

This was stated by Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on the air of the Yedyny Novyny (United News) TV marathon.

“Everything that crossed the Polish border and went to Polish companies or enterprises or transited through Poland to other EU countries or through ports to other parts of the world is about 10% of everything that Ukraine exported,” he said.

Solsky added that Hungary accounts for about 6% of Ukraine’s total agricultural exports, depending on the month.

The European Commission considers the unilateral trade decisions of Poland and Hungary, which banned imports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products, unacceptable.

On April 15, 2023, Hungary and Poland imposed a temporary ban on imports of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine until June 30, 2023.
