Delayed harvesting of corn in some farms can lead to the loss of about 10% of the crop. This was announced by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi during a briefing.

“The percentage of losses, depending on the farms, can be from several to 10%. It depends on the hybrid, the humidity with which it was planted when the frosts began, and the temperature drops that are now occurring,” the minister said.

Mykola Solskyi also noted that a lot of corn is still in the fields, and the quality of the crop is deteriorating. According to the minister, it will be possible to talk about the quality of the 2022 corn crop at the end of February, when the harvest is completed.

“At the beginning of winter, about a third of the corn was still in the fields. Now this figure is half as much, but it is still a lot, and the quality is deteriorating day by day. Of course, farmers, elevators and traders know how to work with this to level the quality, but the quality of corn will be significantly worse compared to last year,” said Mykola Solskyi.
