Ukraine can export up to 140 thousand tons of rye in 2021-2022 MG

Ukraine in the 2021-2022 marketing year (MY, July 2021 – June 2022) harvested 600 thousand tons of rye, which allows it, taking into account domestic consumption of 460 thousand tons, to export up to 140 thousand tons of this crop per season without risks to food security… This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.

Rye produced in this marketing year 600 thousand tons, this is one of the most popular crops in the last period. Given that its internal consumption is 460 thousand tons, we really have the opportunity to export at least 100 thousand tons. Therefore, there are no risks with the maximum export volume of 130-140 thousand tons, according to the balance of supply and demand for this crop, ”Vysotsky explained.

According to him, in the current marketing year, there is a recovery in rye production compared to previous years, when Ukraine imported this crop. The Deputy Minister clarified that the trend for the restoration of its production will continue in the future, the cultivation of rye will at least remain at the current level with further prerequisites for a gradual increase in its production.

Currently, rye crops are in satisfactory condition in most cases. Everything will depend on how it overwinters, but there is a positive balance of supply and demand this year, plus exports, and we expect this trend to continue, ”Vysotsky summed up.

Since the beginning of 2021-2022 MY and as of December 3, Ukraine has exported 25.261 million tons of grain and legumes. In particular, 82.9 thousand tons of rye were exported, which is 49 times higher than the indicator of the last MY.
