Ukraine broke last year’s grain export record

In particular, since July, Ukraine has increased wheat exports by 31% to 20.4 million tons.

In the current marketing year (MY, July 2019 – June 2020), Ukraine exported 56.2 million tons of grain, which is 13% more than last season, when a record 49.7 million tons were exported.

This is stated in the report of the Directorate of Development of the Agricultural Sector under the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

According to the report, as of June 26, Ukraine exported 56.2 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, while a total of 57.1 million tons of grain was prepared for export.

In particular, as of the reporting date, Ukraine supplied 20.4 million tons of wheat to the foreign markets (4.8 million tons, or 31% more than in the previous MY), and corn – 30.12 million tons (1.3 million tons, or 1% more), barley – 4.9 million tons (almost 35% more), rye – 8.2 million tons (80 million tons, or 91% less than in the past MY).

In addition, 332.3 thousand tons of flour were exported, which is 10% more than in 2018-2019 MY. In particular, wheat flour – 329.8 thousand tons, which is also almost 10% more than in the previous season.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in the 2018-2019 marketing year, Ukrainian farmers exported 49.7 million tons of grain, which was a record for the entire history of state independence.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and exporters plan to approve the volume of grain exports of the new crop in the 2020-2021 marketing year (MY, July 2020 – June 2021) and sign the corresponding memorandum on July 1. The Ministry of Economy predicts the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2020 at the level of 68 million tons, and oilseeds – 20 million tons.
