Ukraine approves food security strategy

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Food Security Strategy of Ukraine until 2027. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Government Portal reports.

He named three key goals of the document:

The first is to stimulate the development of agricultural production and fill the food market.

The second is to ensure the availability of food for all groups of the population.

The third goal is to strengthen the security component and eliminate threats. In particular, this concerns the formation of the state reserve, restoration of commodity chains, demining of agricultural land, adaptation to climate change, etc.

“Ukraine will continue to be able to feed itself and countries in dire need of food. We retain the status of one of the guarantors of global food security. This will continue to be the case,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Shmyhal, the third harvest during the full-scale war is underway. Farmers have already harvested more than 15 million tons of grains and oilseeds.
