Within 30 days, Bucharest will work with Kyiv on a plan to control grain exports that will help protect Romanian farmers. This was announced on September 20 by Romanian Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu, Reuters reports.

“Export licenses for Ukrainian companies will come into effect in 30 days,” the official said.

According to him, during this time, Romania will create a clear import licensing procedure for Romanian farmers and processors.

“I am confident that this mechanism, proposed by the European Commission, adopted by Ukraine and agreed upon by us in the interests of farmers, will be fully operational,” Barbu said.

The minister added that licenses will be issued only to Romanian farmers and food processors who need to replenish stocks, not to intermediaries. And food safety checks will be carried out for all imports.
