Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Markiyan Dmytrasevych met with the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of the Republic of Kenya Franklin Mithika Linturi.

During the meeting, Markiyan Dmytrasevych stressed that Ukraine understands the severity of the food crisis faced by Kenya due to the unprecedented drought in 2022 and the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.

“Today, almost 3 million Kenyans are in dire need of humanitarian food aid. Therefore, Kenya is among the countries to which Ukraine plans to send grain within Grain from Ukraine,” said Markiyan Dmytrasevych.

The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya noted that local farmers in Kenya find it increasingly difficult to farm every year due to climate change in the region. According to him, Kenya is trying to take measures to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and supports the establishment of cooperation between the countries. In particular, he stressed Kenya’s interest in exchanging experience with Ukraine in the application of advanced cultivation technologies.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of agriculture.
