Ukraine allowed to export fruit and vegetables to EU

The European Commission has included Ukraine in the list of countries that can freely supply fruit and vegetables to the European Union in accordance with new product safety requirements. This is evidenced by data on the European Commission website, reports European Pravda.

Former Minister of Agriculture and Food Olha Trofimtseva said that in order to export tomatoes, peppers, apples, pears, plums, etc., Ukrainian producers should contact the State Food and Beverage Service to obtain confirmation that the products are delivered from locations free from organisms to which quarantine is applied, defined by Directive (EU) 2019/523. She noted that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has repeatedly warned Ukrainian exporters of changing EU requirements.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association reported that from Sept 1, 2019, importers of fruit in the EU countries refuse to buy apples and pears from Ukraine and other countries outside the European Union, in connection with the entry into force of Directive (EU) 2019/523.
