Ukraine has allocated UAH 20 billion to guarantee the financial security of vessels that are ready to transport Ukrainian agricultural products outside the grain deal. This was announced during a briefing by Dmytro Solomchuk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

“It was decided to allocate UAH 20 billion of insurance guarantee funds. Even if Russia does not guarantee security and is against the ‘corridor’, ships will be able to call at Ukrainian seaports. There are shipowners who are ready to enter, and Ukraine will guarantee their financial security with this insurance fund of UAH 20 billion,” Dmytro explained.

Regarding the prospects for the continuation of the grain corridor after July 18, Solomchuk said that a decision on this issue will be made a day or two before the agreement expires.

“We hope that the decision will be positive given the number of countries involved in this process,” he said.

As reported earlier, the UN recognized that the JCC had not issued a permit for any new bulk carrier to join the Black Sea Grain Initiative since June 26 due to the actions of the Russian side.

The day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry actually confirmed the blocking of ships entering the grain corridor, saying that all ships must leave it by July 18.

Russia says it has no plans to continue its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, demanding a partial lifting of sanctions and the resumption of the Togliati-Odesa ammonia pipeline, which has been blown up in at least two places.
