U.S. winter wheat crop conditions are better than last year

According to USDA crop tour data, as of the end of 2023, the condition of winter wheat crops in the United States was better than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

In particular, in the state of Kansas in good and excellent condition was 43% of crops of grain against 19% at the reporting date of the previous year (for comparison: 32% as of November 26), in Colorado – 61% (-4% for the month; + 11% for the year), in Oklahoma – 67% (+14%; +29%), in Montana – 43% (-15%, +21%), in Nebraska – 48% (-1%; +30%), in North Dakota – 50% (-21%; +2%), in South Dakota – 54% (+2%; +38%).

Deterioration in winter wheat crop condition compared to last year’s results was recorded only in Illinois, with 55% in good to excellent condition compared to 68% by the end of December 2022 and 72% by the end of November 2023.
