U.S. Corn 55% GD/EX Down 6%, Soybeans 54% Down 5%
The 2023 U.S. corn condition declined 6% last week to 55% rated good/excellent. Three states indicated that the corn condition improved last week while 15 states indicated that the corn condition declined. The only improvements were found in Kansas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The top five rated corn states are: Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Tennessee, and North Carolina. The five lowest rated corn states are: Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and South Dakota.
The corn is 96% emerged compared to 94% last year and 94% average.
The 2023 U.S. soybean condition declined 5% last week to 54% rated good/excellent. Five states indicated that the soybean condition improved last week while 13 states indicated that the soybean condition declined. Most of the improvements were found in the eastern and southern areas while most of the declines were found in the central and northern areas. The top five rated soybean states are: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and a tie between North Carolina and Minnesota. The five lowest rated soybean states are: Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
The soybeans are 92% emerged compared to 81% last year and 81% average.
The nation’s topsoil moisture declined last week with 8 states indicating improved topsoil moisture and 10 states indicating lower topsoil moisture. Most of the improvements were found in the eastern and southern areas while most of the declines were found in central and northern areas. The five states with the best topsoil moisture are: Arkansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Kansas, and Louisiana. The five states with the lowest topsoil moisture are: Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Iowa.
Last week’s Drought Monitor indicated that 57% of the U.S. corn acreage and 51% of the soybean acreage was in drought.
