Turkey was and remains one of the largest buyers of Ukrainian grain — Olga Trofimtseva
Putin’s statement is another attempt at pressure. An attempt to use the grain agreement and the existing grain corridor, which has already exported more than 3 million tons of grain, and most of it was exported to countries in Africa and Asia, not only European countries.
Olga Trofimtseva, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, coordinator of the Council of Exporters and Investors, said this during the Agro&Food Security Forum, which was held in Warsaw.
According to her, she hopes for a constructive position of Turkey in this matter.
“We must not forget that Turkey is one of the beneficiaries of working grain exports by sea from Ukraine, because Turkey was and remains one of the largest buyers of this grain,” she noted.
We will remind you that the President of the Russian Federation claims that almost all ships with Ukrainian food “are headed not to the poorest countries, but to the countries of the European Union”. Therefore, according to him, it is worth thinking about restricting the export of grain and other food along this route.
Zelenskyi replied that Ukrainian food was exported to three continents — to Africa, Asia and Europe. And he called Russia’s accusations another “frankly false statement”, that allegedly the absolute majority of Ukrainian grain is exported precisely to European countries.
At the same time, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, Russia may step up efforts to disrupt the extension of the grain agreement on unblocking the export of grain from Ukrainian seaports closer to its expiration in November.
It should be added that today, September 16, the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is being held in Samarkand, where Kremlin leader Putin and Turkish President Erdogan will discuss the grain agreement.
