Turkey remains a leader among importers of Russian grain
In July-December 2023, Turkey purchased 4.2 mln tons of grain from Russia. This is 12.7% less than in the same period last season (4.9 mln tonnes).
This is reported by Interfax with reference to the Russian Union of Grain Exporters.
The second place is taken by Iran. It purchased 3.9 mln tons of grain, which is 4.9% more than last year’s volume (3.7 mln tons). In particular, Iran increased purchases of feed grain.
Egypt imported 2.9 mln tons of grain from Russia, which is almost a quarter less than last season’s 3.9 mln tons.
The top five buyers also included:
- Saudi Arabia (+10.2%) – 2 mln tons,
- Bangladesh (up almost 2.5 times) – 1.9 mln tons.
